Derek Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, was convicted of murder in the death of George Floyd. Chauvin, who is white, was seen on video pinning George Floyd, a Black man, to the ground for over nine minutes after police responded to a report that Floyd used a counterfeit $20 bill. USA Today
VOA VIEW: Chauvin was stupid, he did not intend to murder Floyd - but was a cause, along with Floyd.
Now that fired police officer Derek Chauvin has been convicted on all three counts against him, he can still file an appeal. But the odds are not good, considering some 90% of appeals are denied across the United States.
House Republicans on Tuesday forced a vote to censure Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) for calling on protesters to “get more confrontational” if former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been acquitted of murder charges in the killing of George Floyd.
